Diarra to Liverpool?

Reports in The Independent claim Liverpool are looking to take Real Madrid defensive midfielder Lassana Diarra on a short-term loan. Of all the players we have been linked to Diarra makes sense.

He has Barclays Premier League experience having played for Arsenal, Chelsea and Portsmouth, Spurs and ourselves were also linked with a move for the player in the summer.

Liverpool called Jonjo Shelvey back from an impressive loan spell at Blackpool, so he could be back up to Jordan Henderson, while Lucas recovers from his anterior cruciate ligament operation. Henderson looked more at home in centre midfield against QPR and with Steven Gerrard back in training and Jay Spearing to come back from Suspension do we really need Diarra?

In my opinion, I would say for a short-term loan it would be a good deal for him and us. He gets to put himself in the shop window, for the summer transfers and we get another a quality midfield player until Lucas is fit. The one addendum I would put on this, is I think Jonjo should be given his chance and only use Diarra if Shelvey struggles.

Shelvey looked quality last year when he came on against Fulham. He has been in scintillating form for Blackpool, winning the Football Leagues young player of the month award for November, scoring four goals in five games.
