Liverpool 3 Vs Crystal Palace 1

Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table with a comfortable 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield today.

The Reds began in fine style and took the lead just 14 minutes into the game when Luis Suarez managed to sweep the ball home from 12 yards despite being surrounded by defenders.

Minutes later and Daniel Sturridge kept up his brilliant start to the season when he fired home after turning the Palace defence inside-out. Sturridge changed direction three times on his way into the penalty area, leaving his marker all at sea, with the final switch giving the England striker just enough room to fire an angled shot across Julian Speroni and inside the far post.

The third came just before the break, when a Palace defender pulled Raheem Sterling back just inside the box and Gerrard made no mistake to slot home his 99th Premier League goal.

Palace improved after the break and scored with 15 minutes left as Gayle flicked home a Palace free-kick from close-range - but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

Sturridge could have had his second when he hit a post late on, but this was a convincing win that sees the Reds move back above Arsenal and sitting pretty at the top of the league.
