Liverpool 4 Vs Fulham 0

It probably wasn’t the greatest of times for Martin Jol to be bring his out of form Fulham side to a Liverpool side that are riding high at the moment – apart from last weeks blip to Arsenal that is, but less said about that game the better.

Within the space of five minutes, around the twentieth minute mark Fulham were two goals down and the game was effectively over. There was a slight element of fortune about the Reds first goal, a Fulham defender getting a touch after Agger's header to divert Gerrard's free-kick past his own goalkeeper, but there was no touch of fortune to Martin Skrtel’s bullet like header from a corner whipped in by Gerrard.

The delivery from the Reds captain was excellent but Skrtel was in so much space he could hardly miss. Fulham's defensive organisation was again all at sea when Luis Suárez added a third before half-time, running on to a beautifully judged Henderson through ball and effortlessly finding the target with a shot dinked over the on rushing Fulham keeper.

Suárez and Sturridge resumed after the interval by bringing two fine saves in quick succession from the Fulham stopper before Gerrard slid in Suárez for Liverpool's fourth inside the hour mark. The Reds captain burst forward with his trademark determination and once he had won the ball put it in exactly the right place for Suárez to score.

Gerrard had had a hand in all four goals today – it was his pass that picked out Henderson for the third – and the captain received a well-deserved ovation when he made way for Joe Allen.

Liverpool's switch to a flat back four after the defeat at Arsenal worked well, but then it would against a team like Fulham. I don’t think the system should be dropped, I like it for home games as it makes us very attack minded, but away from home I think we should stick to the flat back four.
